PRIMER THE ENGINE

For engine preparation, it is mandatory to apply our high-temperature primer, as the paint alone does not guarantee adhesion to metal or alloy surfaces.

If you choose not to use the primer, it is at your own risk that the paint may peel off.

We recommend this step because it directly impacts the quality of the paint job and its longevity. Engines are built from aluminum or other metals that can oxidize, so primer must always be applied before paint.

Even aluminum can oxidize, so it's crucial to use a primer that prevents this oxidation. Additionally, primers have specific adhesive properties that the paint cannot provide. This is why we always recommend applying a primer.

Paint alone cannot stop rust or oxidation because it cannot contain phosphating substances, which is why we recommend using a primer.

APPLYING THE PRIMER

1. Shake the can or spray bottle well. Apply a medium coat (not too thick or too light).
2. Wait for 5 minutes and apply a full coat, ensuring it's applied evenly and properly.
3. Wait for 20-30 minutes and begin the painting process.

APPLYING THE TEXTURED WRINKLE PAINT

The 2K textured paint must be catalyzed before use.

The kit includes both the base and the pre-measured catalyst.

1. Pour the catalyst into the paint and mix thoroughly.
2. Once mixed, pour the paint into a spray gun with a nozzle size of 0.8 to 1.3 mm and apply at a pressure between 1.5 and 2.5 bar.
3. Apply a coat that is neither too thick nor too light and wait 15 minutes.
4. Apply a more substantial and compact coat and wait 20 minutes.
5. After 20 minutes, start creating the textured effect typical of Harley Davidson engines.

CREATING THE TEXTURED WRINKLE EFFECT

To achieve the textured effect, you simply need to apply very light coats quickly and from a distance (about 30 cm from the surface).

It is essential that these light coats are not applied all at once.

1. Apply a light coat from a distance and wait for it to dry.
2. Then, apply another coat and let it dry.
3. The more light coats applied, the rougher the texture becomes.
4. Keep applying until the effect matches the original look of Harley Davidson engines.

PAINT DRYING AND GASOLINE RESISTANCE

The textured paint will be touch-dry in about 1 hour, and after 12 hours, it will achieve high hardness, sufficient for mounting engine parts. After 48-72 hours, it will reach the required hardness to resist gasoline.

In summer, if the parts are left in the sun, the paint will become gasoline-resistant in about two hours.

NOTE: Remember, a spray paint cannot have the same gasoline resistance as a 2K paint applied with a body shop spray gun. If you want a product that is extremely resistant and permanent against any chemical agents, you must apply the 2K version with a body shop spray gun.
