High-Temperature Wrinkle Spray Paint
High-temperature wrinkle spray paint in Lamborghini Black and Harley Davidson Black.
High-Temperature Wrinkle Paint is ideal for the original restoration of sports engines such as Ferrari, Lamborghini, Harley Davidson, Lancia Stratos, Delta HF Integrale, and Escort Cosworth.
This wrinkle paint is also widely used for design and decorative objects, such as Nikon camera lenses and furniture, due to its incredible resistance to scratches, heat, and abrasions.
Once cured, it is more durable than catalyzed paint, but it is crucial to strictly follow the technical datasheet instructions to achieve optimal results.
To correctly use and apply this product on engines, it is mandatory to use our high-temperature primers. For other applications in the design and architecture sectors, we recommend consulting the technical datasheet and contacting our office.
Differences Between Spray and Liquid Versions
The only difference between the liquid version and the spray version lies in their application capabilities. The spray version is less effective for covering large components like engine heads or large design objects, as it cannot evenly coat large surfaces. For professional projects, we recommend the liquid version, which can be applied with bodywork spray guns.
Please refer to the technical datasheet for detailed application instructions.
Additionally, note that Lamborghini Black and Harley Davidson Black wrinkle paints are identical in color, texture, and formulation. The labeling differences are purely for marketing purposes.
If the advertised label is unavailable, we will ship the available product from our stock.
PREPARATION OF METAL OR ALLOY PARTS
Metal parts should be:
- Sandblasted if necessary. If sandblasted, they must be primed within 2 hours of sandblasting. Always handle parts with gloves, never bare hands, and clean with our aviation-grade anti-silicone degreaser.
- Thoroughly cleaned and blown with compressed air.
- Cleared of old paint or rust residues using abrasive paper if not sandblasted.
- Prepared using one of our specific primers, either in spray or catalyzed liquid form.
PREPARATION OF PLASTIC PARTS
Plastic parts should be:
- Cleaned with anti-static degreasers, such as our universal anti-silicone degreaser.
- Cleared of old or residual paint.
- Prepared with our plastic adhesion promoter.
APPLICATION OF WRINKLE PAINT
These rules apply to both the spray and professional liquid versions.
- For spray paint: Shake the can thoroughly and start painting.
- For liquid paint: Shake the can briefly and pour it into a spray gun with a 1.3 or 1.4 mm nozzle, filtering it with appropriate bodywork filters. Avoid larger nozzles such as 1.7 or 1.8 mm, which are too big for precise application.
Steps:
- Apply one or two coats of primer and allow them to dry for one hour.
- Apply a light anchoring coat of wrinkle paint and wait 10 minutes, regardless of the season.
- Apply the first full, compact coat. The surface should appear glossy and evenly wet. Achieving a "full coat" means applying to the brink of dripping for proper performance. Wait 10 minutes in summer and 15 minutes in winter.
- Apply a second full coat and wait 10-15 minutes.
- Apply a third full coat and wait 20-30 minutes.
CURING AND WRINKLING PROCESS
General Notes:
Wrinkle paint fully cures in 20 days at room temperature, or 30 days in winter. To accelerate curing, bake the painted parts in an oven at 50-60°C for three hours. However, prolonged baking may reduce the wrinkle size and alter its appearance.
Curing Methods:
- Small Oven: Use a household oven on ventilated or static mode for one hour at 80°C. Afterward, let the parts cool for 12 hours before handling them. Wait one week before mounting.
- Heat Gun: Heat the parts evenly with a professional heat gun until wrinkles form. Note that this method is inconsistent for larger parts and best for small objects.
- Infrared Lamps: This is the optimal method for curing wrinkle paint. Use infrared lamps to heat the parts until wrinkling is complete, then let them cool for 12 hours before handling and one week before assembly.
REASSEMBLY AND GASOLINE RESISTANCE
For maximum gasoline resistance, allow the paint to cure for 30 days at room temperature or 15 days with oven or infrared curing.
AESTHETIC CHARACTERISTICS
Wrinkle paint creates a unique, ribbed texture resembling corduroy. The wrinkle size depends on the number of coats applied.
The most iconic wrinkles are found on Harley Davidson Nightster engines, Ferrari engines, and Lamborghini engines.
DURABILITY
Once cured, wrinkle paint is more durable than catalyzed paint, despite being a single-component product.
