Wrinkle Paint Ferrari Black, Lamborghini Black, Harley Davidson Black for Car and Motorcycle Engines
The black XL wrinkle paint is a very special product used by true professionals worldwide. When replicating the texture of original engines such as Harley, Ferrari, or Lamborghini, this is the only truly original product.
The XL version of the wrinkle paint is a product exclusively for professionals.
This version is used by car manufacturers during the initial assembly of the vehicle engine.
It reproduces the vintage original wrinkle texture of Ferrari, Lamborghini, Alfa Romeo, and Lancia engines.
The difference between this version and the contemporary one lies in the size and shape of the wrinkle, which is entirely different.
This product is available only on request, and it takes 7–10 days from the order date before it can be shipped.
It is pointless to request faster delivery times or attempts to expedite the process.
This paint is the most famous and best-selling product for replicating or restoring the engines of iconic Ferraris or simply for customizing the engine or valve covers of your car.
It is a special product for the original painting of sports engines, including Lancia Stratos, Delta HF Integrale, Escort Cosworth, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati, Dodge Viper, Harley Davidson, Triumph, etc.
Once cured, it is more resistant than catalyzed paint, but it is crucial to strictly follow the technical data sheet's instructions to achieve these results.
For proper application on engines, the use of our high-temperature primers is mandatory.
For other applications in design and architecture, we recommend consulting the technical data sheet and contacting our office.
Difference Between Spray and Liquid Versions
The only difference between the liquid version and the spray can version is that the spray version struggles with large components, such as some engine heads or design objects, as the spray cannot coat large surfaces evenly.
For professional work, we recommend using only the liquid version, applied with a spray gun.
Application Instructions
-
Prepare the Surface:
- Clean the surface and remove old paint by sanding or sandblasting.
- Use a spray gun with a 1.3 nozzle at 2 bar pressure.
- Apply a light coat followed immediately by a full coat of our Wrinkle Primer as follows:
- White primer for yellow, red, or silver gray colors.
- Black primer for black, Maserati blue, military green, or military brown colors.
- Wait 30–40 minutes until the primer is dry to the touch.
-
Apply the Wrinkle Paint:
- Shake the Wrinkle Paint well.
- Apply a light coat and wait 5 minutes at room temperature.
- Apply the first full coat and wait 5 minutes in summer or 10 minutes in winter.
- Apply the second full coat and wait 5 minutes in summer or 10 minutes in winter.
- Apply the third full coat and wait 10–15 minutes in summer or 20–30 minutes in winter before heating to wrinkle the paint.
- Note: You may apply a fourth coat to achieve a larger wrinkle texture, as the gun type can influence the size of the wrinkles.
How to Wrinkle the Paint
-
With a Heat Gun:
- Use a heat gun for small pieces, such as an engine head from a Lancia Thema Ferrari or a Lancia Delta HF Integrale.
- DO NOT use a heat gun for Ferrari engine heads unless there are two people heating simultaneously.
-
In an Oven:
- Use a small oven or similar with concentrated heat on the piece.
- Alternatively, use a bodywork oven at 70°C until the piece wrinkles completely.
How Long to Cure
- Heat until the entire surface is wrinkled, then stop heating.
- Allow the piece to cool and dry for one week at room temperature.
When Can the Parts Be Assembled?
- The pieces can be handled the day after wrinkling.
- They can be mounted on the engine after 48–72 hours, but tighten bolts carefully, as the paint may still be curing at deeper levels, which can take 1–3 weeks depending on ambient temperature.
