Glossy Black 1K Engine Spray High Temperature - 400ml

This high-temperature glossy black engine paint is a special product because, unlike other sprays on the market, it is truly glossy. However, to achieve this level of gloss, certain conditions must be met.

High-temperature engine paint for motorcycles, cars, marine engines, etc...

This product has been designed to restore and refurbish any type of engine, as well as brake calipers and other parts.

It has elastic properties that allow it to withstand sudden thermal shocks, such as when cold water from puddles during winter can splash onto a hot engine, causing rapid expansion and contraction of the paint layer.

PREPARATION AND TOOLS

  • It is recommended to wear latex gloves to avoid contact between bare hands and metal.
  • Always degrease the metal using our Kustomservice aeronautical degreaser.
  • Always prepare the metal with our high-temperature primers. Only the combination of primer and paint ensures proper resistance to gasoline and other chemicals.

PAINTING NOTES

  • Ambient temperature entirely affects the painting process and its outcome. Many users paint in garages or locations where the ambient temperature is not controlled. Therefore, it's important to note:
  • If painting below 15°C, the paint hardens slowly and will take much longer to become resistant to gasoline and other chemicals. For this reason, we recommend waiting at least one week before exposing painted parts to any chemicals, including simple water or cleaning soaps.
  • When working without professional tools, longer drying times are required. Patience is key to achieving the same results.

APPLICATION OF HIGH-TEMPERATURE ENGINE PAINT

  • First, prepare the parts with Kustom Service’s matte black primer for engines, applying a light coat followed by a full coat. Wait 30 minutes for it to dry, then proceed with applying the paint.
  • Degrease the parts thoroughly with our Aeronautical Degreaser. Ensure no traces of grease, rust, oxidation, imperfections, or dirt remain. It’s mandatory to wear latex gloves and never touch metal parts with bare hands.
  • Prepare the parts with our Kustom Service primer spray or the professional liquid version.
  • Shake the spray can well, apply a light coat, and wait 10 minutes.
  • Apply a full coat and wait until it completely dulls.
  • Apply a second full coat and wait 30 minutes to 1 hour before applying the engine paint.

IMPORTANT: After applying the primer, you have 12 hours to paint it without sanding. After 12 hours, it's recommended to lightly dull it with Scotch Brite 3M.

AFTER HOW LONG CAN I TOUCH AND MOUNT THE PAINTED PARTS?

  • After applying the primer, you must apply the paint and follow the recommended waiting times before touching or mounting the parts:
    • 12 hours dry to the touch
    • 48 hours before mounting

RESISTANCE TO GASOLINE (Tests conducted at 18°C)

  • 10-15 days for maximum chemical resistance (at 18/20°C)
  • 1 hour if baked at 60°C
  • 30 days at 10/12°C

Note: You can bake the paint to speed up the chemical drying process by heating it to 60°C for 1 hour.

PAINTING NOTES

  • To achieve the maximum glossy effect, wait until each layer becomes completely glossy before applying the next one, even if this requires waiting 30 minutes or more between layers.
  • The glossy effect also depends on the primer used. If you use our Kustomservice primer, you will get the best result; otherwise, you may encounter significant issues.

IMPORTANT

The quality of the work depends entirely on the preparation and cleaning phase of the components. So, attention must be given to preparation more than the painting process itself.
