Gloss Black 2K Engine Spray Paint 400ml

The 2K high-temperature gloss black engine spray paint is a special product because, unlike all other sprays available on the market, it is truly glossy. However, to achieve this result, you must follow the correct procedure.

This high-temperature gloss engine paint is used for painting motorcycle engines, car engines, marine engines, etc.

This product is designed to restore and refurbish any engine, as well as brake calipers and other parts.

It has elastic properties that allow it to resist sudden thermal shocks, for example, from cold puddle water in winter that can cool down a hot engine, causing a rapid expansion and contraction of the paint layer.

PREPARATION AND TOOLS

It is recommended to wear latex gloves to avoid contact between your bare hands and the metal. Always degrease the metals with our Kustomservice aeronautical degreaser. It is mandatory to prepare the metal with our high-temperature primers to avoid the formation of rust and oxidation.

PAINTING OBSERVATION

Ambient temperature completely affects the painting process and its outcome. Since many users paint in garages or in places where the ambient temperature is not controlled, there are some important things to know.
If we paint below 15 degrees, the paint hardens slowly, and it will take much longer to become resistant to gasoline and other chemicals. For this reason, we recommend waiting at least one week before placing the components in contact with any chemicals, including simple water or washing soaps. When working without professional tools, you must wait longer than usual, but patience will yield the same results.

APPLICATION OF 2K HIGH-TEMPERATURE ENGINE PAINT

First, degrease the parts thoroughly with our Kustomservice Aeronautical Degreaser. There should be no traces of grease, rust, oxidation, imperfections, or any kind of dirt. It is essential to wear latex gloves and never touch the metal parts with bare hands. Prepare the parts with our Kustomservice black primer spray or professional liquid version. Before applying the 2K paint, you must apply two coats of primer. After applying them, wait 30 to 60 minutes at room temperature, then start applying the paint directly on the primer without sanding it. This spray, unlike the 1K, is 2K. This means it will give you the same result as the liquid version, but with the advantage of being in spray form. To use it, you need to press the button found at the bottom of the spray. Before using this spray, remove the red button from the transparent cap, turn the spray upside down, apply the red button to the pin at the bottom of the spray, and press firmly for 30 seconds. The button activates the catalyst inside the spray, which will harden the paint. Be careful—if this step is not done, the paint will not dry and will not resist any chemicals. At this point, shake the spray well and apply a light first coat. Then wait 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, apply a full coat and wait 15 minutes. Apply a second and final full coat and wait the technical drying time of 48 hours before assembling the parts.

HOW LONG AFTER CAN I TOUCH AND ASSEMBLE THE PAINTED PARTS?

  • 12 hours for dry to the touch
  • 48 hours to assemble
  • 72 hours for optimal resistance
  • 1 week for maximum resistance

REACTIVITY TIMES FOR GASOLINE RESISTANCE (Tests conducted at 18 degrees Celsius)

  • 3-4 days for maximum chemical resistance (at 18/20 degrees Celsius)
  • 1 hour if baked at 60°C
  • 30 days at 10/12 degrees Celsius

NOTE: It is possible to bake the paint to speed up the chemical drying process by heating it to 60°C for one hour.

PAINTING OBSERVATIONS

Drying times between coats are influenced by factors such as ambient temperature, and for this paint, they should not be accelerated with mechanical means such as: heat guns, body shop ovens, forced air.

IMPORTANT

The result of a good job depends entirely on how the preparation and cleaning of the components are done. Therefore, attention should be paid to preparation more than the painting process itself.
